At AZTI we are looking for a Researcher to join the Biotechnology and Molecular Ecology team with a Postdoctoral contract in the field of Molecular Ecology, Genomics and Bioinformatics applied to marine environment management.

We would like this person to have solid training and experience in applied molecular evolution/ecology, genomic analysis and bioinformatics, and to wish to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to developing solutions based on molecular techniques and genetic tools to improve the management of the marine environment and its resources.

The selected person will be part of a collaborative environment where they will participate in strategic projects with diverse applications such as:

• the use of genetic methods to improve fishery management (e.g. use of environmental DNA to estimate biomass, population genetics for population connectivity studies)
• the development of new fishery monitoring technologies (e.g. use of metabarcoding or digital PCR to monitor discards, bycatch),
• the development of new environmental status indices (e.g. based on environmental DNA metabarcoding to detect fish fauna),
• understand the response of species to climate change (environmental DNA studies to detect distribution changes, population genetics to study genetic adaptation),
• in addition to other examples
