In the Marine Fishing Technologies team we are looking for a researcher to collaborate in the development of research projects, technology development and technical assistance in the development of intelligent platforms for sustainable fishing and marine technologies.

You will work in an environment passionate about knowledge where the natural world, marine ecosystems, health, food, research and technology from the basis of our day to day.

We are looking for a person with:

  • Technical/technological profile to be able to develop projects and digital systems involving mechatronic developments.
  • Specific knowledge in sensing, acquisition and design and programming of signal acquisition environments (and their calibration), as well as their processing with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
  • All this mainly in the marine and fishing domains (working environments include laboratory, prototyping/test benches and finally at sea/real operating conditions).
  • This person will support the current team of sensing and artificial intelligence in Marine Fishing Tecnologies at AZTI, bringing in a technology profile with the objective of developing intelligent systems.

Requirements

We would like you to join our team if...

  • You have an academic degree in: Mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering, or computer engineering (systems), with specialization (or a major credit component) in intelligent learning systems or similar.
  • You have more than 2 years of proven experience in the development of robotics and/or applied AI projects.
  • Knowledge in computer vision and projective geometry applied to computer vision.
  • Knowledge in robotics, embedded software development and Open Source environments (linux, docker).
  • Experience working with machine learning/artificial intelligence libraries and development environments (PyTorch, TensorFlow, TensorRT, Keras or similar).
  • Knowledge in sensor and monitoring systems, programming and signal acquisition.
  • High level of spoken and written English.
  • Proven skills in prototyping data acquisition systems.
  • Computer/literacy at user (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point) and more advanced scientific level (Latex).

  • Experience in companies or company projects. 
  • Demonstrated experience in R&D projects in the appointment field.
  • Experience in dissemination/communication of results (conferences, congresses, technical events, etc.).
  • Track record in previous research and research grants.
  • Scientific publications in the appointment field.
  • Knowledge of fishing fleets and processes on board.
  • Availability to embark and travel.
  • Willingness to change, flexibility and adaptation to the needs demanded by the environment.
  • Market translation of projects outputs.
  • Initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Goal orientate (person who fulfills his/her commitments in a timely and proper manner).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
